On the season 2 premiere, we learn that Jane and Jimmy survived being shot, but Jane is still, three months after, in pain. While being honored as a hero, she learns that her parents have split up. Jane was not the only one being honored, an army women that saved three man was also receiving the award. At the end of the ceremony, the car she enters blows up. Jane, unofficially works the case and discovers that the bomber is one of the three officers that were saved or her boss. Maura invites Jane’s mother to live in her guest house. The boss of the deceased army girl is found dead, but Maura realizes he was not the bomber. The culprit takes Jane and her friend hostage with grenade, Jane again puts herself in the line of fire and holds the grenade in place while her friend disables the culprit.
