It seems that in the last few days we have seen a lot of announcements of new and reboot’s happening on the soon to launch Paramount+ service, replacing CBS All Access. Also Disney+ has been also filling up in new shows also. The news come about a year after the series finale of the long running CBS series.
Very few details were available, but the shows will follow one case for the entire season, a format that was never used on CBS. They also plan to have a mix of past and new characters. For the time being, it is planned as a one time event, however this could change.
What I would prefer than having new characters, is to have past characters come back to the show to help out the gang. This includes Elle Greenaway (Lola Glaudini), Derek Morgan (Shemar Moore), Ashley Seaver (Rachel Nichols), Alex Blake (Jeanne Tripplehorn), Kate Callahan (Jennifer Love Hewitt).
The series ran for 15 seasons on CBS. Only a handful has been part of the series since day one, Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), Jennifer Jareau (A. J. Cook), and Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). Vangness also guest starred in not one, but two failed spin-offs, Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior and Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders.
