In the series premiere we meet Jane Rizzoli (Angie Harmon) and Maura Isles (Sasha Alexander), a detective and medical examiner, investigating the death of a husband and wife. In the course of the investigation, Jane realizes this is a copycat killer from someone that attacked and traumatized years ago. The original serial killer, Charles Hoyt, escapes prison. Afraid, she decides to stay with her good friend Maura. Her appartment is ransacked and when she comes to see the damage, she is kidnapped by the copy cat and reunited with Charles. She manages to escape by killing the copy cat and shooting Charles.
