Pretty Little Liars | Season 1 | Episode 3 “To kill a mocking girl”

Pretty Little Liars

The girls decide that the best way to cope with Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) death is to return to the cabin where they had shared so many memories with her. They hope to find some closure by reminiscing about their time together. However, Hanna (Ashley Benson) expresses a disturbing theory: she believes Alison might still be alive. Hanna argues that only Alison would know the personal details mentioned in the mysterious messages they’ve been receiving. This theory causes a heated argument among the group, and as they attempt to settle their differences, they hear unsettling noises coming from the woods. Just as they try to figure out what’s happening, they receive yet another ominous message.

Meanwhile, Aria (Lucy Hale) is having a difficult time during a family lunch. The appearance of a woman from her father Byron’s (Chad Lowe) past brings back painful memories of his infidelity. This woman’s presence makes the atmosphere tense and awkward. Byron tries to explain that he no longer works with her, but admits that since it’s a small campus, he can’t completely avoid her. This revelation does little to ease the discomfort Aria feels.

At Spencer’s (Troian Bellisario) home, the atmosphere is thick with tension. Spencer and Melissa (Torrey DeVitto) are in the middle of a heated argument about canceling Melissa’s wedding. Their mother is caught in the middle, supporting Melissa and adding fuel to the fire. The argument escalates, and the rift between the sisters seems wider than ever.

Noel Kahn (Brant Daugherty) makes his grand entrance by announcing to Mona (Janel Parrish) and Hanna that he’s hosting an epic cabin party. Mona observes that Hanna and her boyfriend haven’t been intimate yet, adding to the ongoing drama.

Later, Maya (Bianca Lawson) excitedly shares with Emily (Shay Mitchell) how she was incredibly fast on her bike, but Emily feels uncomfortable when her boyfriend, Ben (Steven Krueger), kisses her. In an attempt to lighten the mood, Emily invites Maya to Noel’s party.

At school, Aria notices that Spencer is visibly overwhelmed. As they talk about Spencer’s troubles, they spot Jenna (Tammin Sursok) and Toby (Keegan Allen) walking through the halls. Their presence adds another layer of tension to an already fraught day.

In a troubling development, Darren (Bryce Johnson), the police officer who is blackmailing Hanna’s mother, appears at school to have a chat with Hanna. She reassures the girls that she hasn’t said anything that could get anyone into serious trouble, but her anxiety is palpable.

Aria takes a chance and flirts with Fitz (Ian Harding) at school. Their flirtation almost gets them caught, but they manage to escape the situation unscathed.

Spencer decides to visit Wren (Julian Morris) and asks him to clarify to her family that he was the one who initiated their kiss. Wren admits that he’s tried to reach out, but no one is returning his calls, leaving Spencer frustrated.

In a shocking turn of events, Ben surprises Emily at her locker and insists on having sex with her. When Emily refuses, Ben becomes violent. Thankfully, Toby intervenes and saves Emily by physically confronting Ben, leaving him beaten and humiliated.

Struggling with writer’s block, Spencer resorts to copying her sister’s old work to complete her paper. She submits the plagiarized work, hoping it will suffice.

At Noel’s party, Hanna is frustrated by her boyfriend’s lack of interest in her. She joins her friends and notices they’re arguing over Toby. Spencer voices her concerns about Toby’s character, but Emily reminds them of Toby’s sacrifice when he took the fall for Alison’s (Sasha Pieterse) actions involving Jenna (Tammin Sursok).

During the party, Emily and Maya enjoy themselves in the photo booth and share a kiss. However, someone steals the photo strip before they can see it, leaving them wondering what has been captured.

Hanna tries to initiate sex with Sean, but he refuses, leaving her feeling rejected and angry. Her hurt is compounded when Meredith (Greer Grammer), her father’s ex-fling, shows up at her mother’s gallery despite Hanna’s clear indication that she was not welcome. Meredith’s presence adds another layer of discomfort and tension.

The girls return to the woods, where Spencer reveals that Toby (Keegan Allen) was coerced into taking the fall for something Alison had on him. As they continue to investigate, they hear eerie noises and come across Alison’s friendship bracelet, further intensifying the mystery surrounding her fate.

At the end of the episode, we see a mysterious figure printing out the stolen photo booth pictures of Emily and Maya, hinting at more secrets and trouble to come.
