Orphan Black: Echoes | Season 1 | Episode 7 | “The dog’s honest truth” recap

About the author

Darros is deeply upset with Xander for failing to make Jules feel safe. Xander, determined to redeem himself, approaches Jules once more. He confides in her that he knows the exact location where they were created and offers to take her there. In a bold move, he also reveals that he has stolen Darros’ keypass, a significant breach of trust but one that he believes is necessary to gain Jules’ trust and ensure her safety.

Meanwhile, Kira returns home after enduring a horrific night, only to be greeted by another devastating event. Lucy is at her house and has disclosed everything to Eleanor. The revelation leaves Eleanor shattered, and she is devastated to learn that she is also a printout, a mere replication. Eleanor tells her that death is inescapable and that she has been a victim of it once again, regardless of the attempts to cheat it. Overcome with anger and betrayal, Eleanor storms out, leaving behind a trail of emotions.

The next morning, Lucy arrives at Kira’s place with a resolute determination. She announces that she will do whatever it takes to find Eleanor, believing that her involvement will somehow aid their cause. Kira, grappling with her own feelings of guilt and regret, visits the real Eleanor’s gravesite. Standing before the grave, she admits to herself and to the memory of Eleanor that she made a terrible mistake, one that has now set off a chain of events beyond her control.

In a different part of town, Eleanor visits her son Lucas. She lays bare the entire truth, revealing the unsettling details of their reality. Lucas, a man of deep faith and moral conviction, is horrified by what he hears. Unable to reconcile this new reality with his beliefs, he demands that Eleanor leave him alone, distancing himself from the overwhelming situation.

Jules, meanwhile, finds herself at the facility where she was created. The sight of the tank stirs a mix of emotions within her. Recalling a drug she and Lucy experimented with previously, she decides to use it on Xander. She drugs him and steals the keypass, a crucial tool that she believes will aid her in her mission. She makes her way back to the office and, with a sense of urgency and resolve, shuts down the entire complex. The head of security volunteers to pursue her, but Darros, believing that letting her go will eventually lead them to Lucy, orders him to stand down. Darros later confronts Xander, expressing his profound disappointment and labeling him a failed project.

As Jules makes her escape, she encounters a stray dog. The sight of the animal sparks a new plan in her mind. She devises a scheme to send a powerful message to their pursuers, signaling that they will not be defeated easily. With Eleanor by her side, they set a trap for the security guard. In a daring move, they collide head-on with his car, leaving him incapacitated and then making their getaway.

Kira, realizing the gravity of the situation, reaches out to Emily for help. However, it soon becomes apparent that Emily is not as trustworthy as she seems. She presses Kira for more information while subtly hiding a gun, revealing her own hidden motives and adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding drama.

Each character in this intricate web of deceit and survival is pushed to their limits, facing challenges that test their resolve and force them to confront the harsh realities of their existence. The tension mounts as their paths intersect, leading to a climax that promises to be as explosive as it is inevitable.
